APPEARANCE:
Genesis wears a long black coat, similar to Sephrioth only red. Underneath the coat he wears black clothing, with shoulder guards and black boots. Usually he holds his sword in his right hand and bears large wing on his left. (But he prefers not to show it.)
PERSONALITY:
At first Genesis seems like a deserter, arrogant and a little childish, but deep inside he has a conflicted personality. Beside his personality, he loves to recite phrases from the poem LOVELESS and believe he is a character from the poem. Other than that, Genesis is a complex person still dealing with his conflict inside him.
When talking to someone, he usually quotes lines from LOVELESS. He starts to resent Shrina and its associates after discovering his secret of his birth and is the main reason why he left SOLDIER. His narcissistic and destructive personality makes him an interesting person to be around with.
BIOGRAPHY:
Genesis had never known his biological parents. He remembers that he was part of Project G when he was born, and his childhood friend was Angeal Hewley. Years later, after he was labeled a failure from the experiment, he deicded to join SOLDIER because he wanted to be like Sephiroth and earn the respect he deserved. Eventually both him and Angeal became 1st class SOLDIER with Sephiroth and became teammates. Soon he grew jealous of Sephiroth's fame and wanted to prove to him that he was better.
During a training exercise, Genesis received a wound from Angeal after he was trying to stop a match between him and Sephiroth. At first it looked like it was minor wound; however, the wound got even worse causing him to slowly degrade for the next 7 years. It wasn't until he met the "goddess" and absorbed the lifestream into his body, where his body was fully healed. Before being visited by the goddess, he sought help from Dr. Hollander. It was him who told Genesis about his birth and the secrets about his body. A few months later, he suddenly disappeared with Hollander and a group of 2nd and 3rd class SOLDIERS. During this time, he started to create Genesis clones and started wrecking havoc throughout Midgar.
Soon Genesis was spotted to be in a village called Banora, Genesis's hometown. Both Zack and Angeal confronted Genesis in a warehouse, where as usual, he is reciting a line from Loveless. It was here where he revealed his wings and asked Angeal to join him. He does and they disappear for awhile. They return again only in Hojo's laboratory, where he intended to kill Professor Hojo. Angeal stops him and quotes another line from LOVELESS. He flies away from Angeal and Zack, but not before summoning a Bahamut Fury on them.
At Modeoheim, Zack spots him in a warehouse where the degradation is starting to show on him. Genesis is angry at Hollander for not stopping the degradation, and attempts to kill him. Hollander explains he does not know where the Jenova Cells are, therefore he is useless to him. After Hollander escapes, Genesis is left to fight Zack alone. Zack wins the duel, and before letting himself fall down into darkness, he quotes a few lines from LOVELESS.
A few years later, he is seen alive in Junon watching a sunset with a Banora apple in his hand. Later, he confronts Sephiroth at Mt. Nibel's reactor. Here he explains that Sephiroth is the "perfect monster" and his cell is the key to his cure of degradation. Sephiroth rejects the idea, but Genesis knew that he was the perfect monster and leaves. Because of Genesis, Sephiroth found out the truth, therefore causing him to destroy Nibelheim.
Four years later, he meets Zack;who is now on the run, at Gongaga, where he asked him about the final four phrases in LOVELESS. Zack doesn't care about LOVELESS and attempts to strike. He flies away only to leave behind a Banora apple. Genesis and Zack confront each other for the final time in Banora at an underground Mako mine, where Genesis's appearance has totally changed from the degradation. After they have a conversation about LOVELESS and his plans, he starts to gather Lifestream from the Goddess Materia, and begins to transform into the Genesis Avatar.
With this transformation, he was still unable to defeat Zack as he return to normal, this time without any signs of degradation. After one last duel against Zack, the Goddess Minerva accepts his desire to live on, and disappears. Genesis's body was carried back up to the surface where a Shrina helicopter lands and two 1st class SOLDIERS; Weiss and Nero, takes his body and wonders if he is able to join their group, Deepground.
When he arrives at Deepground, he was offered to join their rebellion, but instead declined. After declining the offer, he decided to seal himself in a flooded cavern underneath Midgar, since he believed he was the sole survivor between Sephiroth, Angeal and himself. Since both of them were dead, he wanted to seal himself in order to protect the world. After years of slumber, and the defeat of Omega, a shockwave was sent in the flooded cavern, causing him his awakening. When he awakens, his water orb explode as he walk out into the opening, where Weiss's body was laying there. Which each step he took, the water turned black, he picks up Weiss and spread his wings out. He tells him that there was much more to do, as he flew into the night.
After setting Weiss's body somewhere safe, he flew back into the night to see what has changed during his years of slumber. As he was flying, there was a strange light up ahead of him, and soon envelops him. When the light dissipated, he realized he wasn't in Midgar any more, rather a place he never even seen before. He asked around about this place, and found out there was war against the monster, and this city was looking for heroes. Genesis was confused on why he was chosen, and wonders if the goddess Minerva was doing this to forgive him for his actions in the past. Confused on what to do, he decided to head towards the Bass district and become a mercenary, hoping to get answers on why he was here.

A quiet night it was. The full moon was bright, as Genesis flew into the night wondering what has happened to the outside world during his sleep. He could see the destruction of several mako reactor, and wonders what would caused this. Who was the new hero this time? Was it still Zack? Or did someone else step up and become a hero. All he knows is both Angeal and Sephiroth are dead. He was the sole survivor.
Suddenly a bright light flash up ahead, as he shield his eyes from the light. When it returned to normal, he opened his eyes and saw an unfamiliar place. "Where am I?" He realized he was not in the air, but rather on the ground. His wings were gone, as a confused Genesis looked around. Not knowing where to go, he randomly started walking down a street, until he saw a noticed on the wall. The noticed explained to everyone, that this city was in a time of need, and that heroes from all over the world was sent here to defend the city from monster. Genesis thought to himself, and wonders why he was here? Throughout his life he wanted to be a hero, but seemed to really got it because of Sephiroth. Was this another chance to make amends to himself for his past. Genesis took this opportunity to proved to everyone that he indeed was a hero.
Now that he figured out where and why he was here, he needed to find a place to stay. Question was, what part of the city was he at? After searching for clue around the area, he realized this was the Bass district. It seemed like a good place to stay, since there was nothing unusual going on around here. He decided to take a stroll around the district in order to get use to the area while reciting a line from LOVELESS.

There was another noticed up ahead saying that they were looking for mercenaries to fight against the monster. Genesis thought this was a perfect job for him to prove himself that he was a hero. He followed the directions and headed out into his new life. A second chance he did not want to spoil.
