APPEARANCE:Marcus looks the part of an intimidating bandit. His build is muscular, though he is the same height as most of his friends if not a little shorter. To add to the odd bandit mystic, Marcus has blue line tattoos on his arms and covers his head, down past his eyes, with a pale bandanna. His rough appearance is only further complimented by the fact that he has a slight under-bite that makes it where a pointy awkward tooth is always visible. When it comes to clothing Marcus is pretty much a "wear what's clean" type of guy, meaning that he's usually wearing plain pants and a shirt. Nothing too out of the ordinary in that aspect of his appearance at least.
PERSONALITY:Personality is a pretty tough one to pin down with Marcus. He's not exactly an emotional guy on any level, so he avoids saying things like "I feel" unless it's a pretty important conversation. Manly and gruff as he is, Marcus is pretty well known for being blunt and sometimes pretty offensive. The man doesn't do it out of cruelty despite how it seems, but rather because he believes that blunt honesty is the only way people can change.
Around Tantalus he's considerably softer though, begrudgingly dishing out respect as if it was actually painful for him. Marcus does like to joke though and never misses a chance to be a deviant with his friends. He also seems to enjoy acting secretly, not minding taking the lead when plays are done. The last details of Marcus' personality really revolve around his best friend Blank. Marcus would do anything for his friend, even risking his life.
BIOGRAPHY:Nearly all of Marcus' past is something he's told no one about. No one seems to know where he was born, who his parents were, or how he came to be a part of Tantalus. As far as anyone is concerned, Marcus just appeared in Tantalus when he was very young and that was how his life started. As he grew, Marcus learned how to be a proper thief, and an actor for Tantalus' front as a traveling theater group.
The first play that was ever a serious heist though didn't happen until Marcus was a fully grown man. The bandit was informed he'd be taking the lead in a play entitled "I Want To Be Your Canary" for the castle in Alexandria. While it may have seemed like the traveling theater airship was only in the kingdom for the play they were actually hired by Regent Cid to kidnap the princess. By a confusing twist to the Tantalus crew, the princess tried to sneak onto the ship actually wishing to be kidnapped.
Unfortunately making a clean exit got complicated when Steiner caught wind of what was going on and all of the secrets came out on the stage floor. Queen Brahne was furious and immediately set out a counter strike, throwing a bomb on the ship as it prepared to fly away. A few giant harpoons later the ship was flying to safety. Until they crashed thanks to the bomb exploding and lateral damages.
The crash landing site was away from the queen, but face first into other dangers. Tantalus found themselves in Evil Forest, a place known to be particularly deadly and unforgiving. During the crash many people were injured, but Garnet went missing. Zidane mentioned wanting to go find her with some new guys they picked up along the way, but Baku wasn't having it. The leader said that the only way Zidane could go was if he beat Baku in a fight, but really the monkey-butt had to leave Tantalus.
With Zidane off to be a knight in shining armor, the Tantalus gang had to focus on figuring out a way to get out of the Forest. Just as they had the gang together and the ship fires put out Blank started mentioning that Zidane might need some help. Marcus doesn't like the idea, but he lets his bro go knowing he can handle himself. Unfortunately everything goes wrong again and as Tantalus is escaping the forest it becomes petrified, and Blank becomes petrified within it.
After their escape Baku, Cinna, and Marcus plan a way to save Blank, but they figure out they need an item called Supersoft to do it. A bit more snooping around reveals that the item is in Treno so the gang splits up, Marcus running into Garnet and Steiner in the process. A few questions reveal that Garnet went her separate ways with Zidane shortly after they arrived in Lindblum together and once Marcus tells her about the Supersoft and saving Blank she quickly aligns herself with him for the mission.
The trio travels to Treno where they sneak into a shop to try and find the item they want when they're happened upon by an old tutor of Garnet. The tutor, Dr. Tot, tells them to escape and that he will have the item they quest for in his tower if they will stop by later. The three agree and escape until they can meet the doctor later. At the doctor's home Marcus gets the item he wanted so desperately and Tot gives Garnet a bit of information.
The doctor then informs the trio that there is a Gargant powered railway just beneath his home that will take them all to Alexandia. The three say their goodbyes and make their way to the castle where they are promptly caught in a trap laid by Zorn and Thorn. Garnet is taken to her room, but Steiner and Marcus are thrown in a giant hanging cage together. The two come up with a plan to get them out, swerving the cage left and right until they crash into a side railing and make their escape.
Steiner and Marcus part ways then so Marcus could save Blank and Steiner could save Garnet. The bandit runs all the way to Evil Forest where he uses the Supersoft and frees Blank, but he urges his friend to rush back so they can help back at Alexandria where a miniature war is brewing. The Tantalus pair arrive back just in time to thwart Zorn and Thorn's second attempt at trap, freeing Zidane and the gang to flee Alexandria. Marcus and Blank vow to help out the others in their fight against Brahne as the princess and the thief escape.
After the fight Marcus and Blank could be found in Lindblum, making light hearted comments that they had to carry the crew out of Alexandria. Not much is heard from the gang again until after Brahne is dead. Ruby settled in Alexandria to open a mini-theater that Blank and Marcus stay to help with. Everything began to settle into peace until Alexandria was attacked, and though Marcus and the gang do their best to defend the city it takes some serious damage. That was when they decided it was time to head back to Lindblum where HQ was to restore the city, minus Ruby who stayed to work on her theater.
When the time for the last fight came Marcus decided to stay behind. The man knew there wasn't much that he could do sitting on an airship while Zidane and his friends did the real work. Years later after everything calmed down, Marcus was there for Tantalus' new "I Want To Be Your Canary" performance at the castle. The man puts on the ruse that he'll be playing the lead so that Zidane can surprise Garnet and everyone celebrates a happy ending.
Until Blank died. It was supposed to be a normal heist when it happened, but his friend worked as a distraction and lost his life because of it. Marcus was so thrown off by the death, thinking it impossible, that he wasn't up to his normal fighting standards and he too died in that heist by the same hands that killed his Bro.
