APPEARANCE:
Soft purple hair frames his slender face and falls to just past his shoulders, making him look somewhat feminine. His general body build is small and skinny, which often makes people think he's not very strong. He can't really lift much and lacks muscle definition, though he's very fit anyway.
On his face he is almost always seen with a slender pair of glasses. Due to his job he is often in very formal attire, ties and vests, valuing looking sharp while on the job. His off time isn't terribly different though, as he still wears vests and button-up shirts just without a tie.
PERSONALITY:
In nearly every situation you find him in, Ray is a very stern person with a dry wit. He doesn't tolerate wishy washy people and will snap at anyone who shows him such a quality. This decisive nature makes Ray a very good leader, albeit a somewhat terrifying one. Having the understanding to know what is right and the strength to choose what is right are two qualities that are most often present within Ray, though he is sometimes easily blinded by desire to accomplish any set goal.
Among friends or others who appreciate his work though Ray is somewhat softer. He still corrects those around him, scolds when he sees or hears something wrong, and pesters people about every little detail, but he has an interest in their general well being. Their health, both mental and physical. This caring is a protective instinct that sometimes overwhelms Ray even when he doesn't exactly want to get involved.
BIOGRAPHY:
It was a time of peace when Ray was born into the very refined Juris family. His mother was a well known art dealer within String District and his father was a successful business owner. Ray was a curious child and seemed ready to learn anything he could get his hands on. Ray's favorite thing to learn about though was the 'fairy tales' of Symphony. Heroes and saviors in particular were things that Ray could never get enough of.
The child grew to be a very avid reader. As soon as he was old enough to understand he almost always had his nose in one book or another. By the age of seven he could recite many, if not all, of the tales of the first four mages. His favorite was the mage with the best understanding of magic, feeling that knowing was the most important thing. Ray continued to grow, and as he did his desire to learn more did as well. Soon Ray was diving into dry historical text and reading them as if they were the most fascinating of novels.
His parents encouraged his interest in history and enrolled him in the best schools. Soon even the best didn't seem as good as the Sanctuary, so Ray was swapped to that school. The only downfall was that Ray never seemed to show any skill with music magic, so he was many years behind his classmates at the Sanctuary. Finding the proper instrument for the boy was the first problem, as all of them he claimed felt awkward.
It was unsteady, but finally Ray was able to cast up to Aria level magic if he was using a clarinet. Most of his spells weren't very powerful however and the staff kept insisting the boy try singing. In the past students who weren't good with instruments still at least could cast strong magic by singing, but Ray was extremely opposed to the idea. When pushed too much the young man would often start screaming before falling entirely silent.
During those years Ray was almost entirely lost to his studies. It seemed the young man was in turmoil, but no one could ever break through enough to get the facts on the matter. After some time passed however Ray graduated with the highest honors, being called the History Mage. The title was the gift of the Sanctuary because Ray was the most well read man to ever graduate. It was not long after he finished school that they asked him to serve in the education of the new influx of students.
Ray agreed, but had his reserves about the strangers. Something was wry with them.
